Thank you for your interest in our University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program!

 

We are the main hospital affiliated with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. All applications are processed through The Electronic Residency Application Service® (ERAS®) and we participate in the National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®). Letters of Recommendation – We require at least 3 letters; one from a family medicine physician is highly recommended.

Each year we receive over 1,200 applications for our eight (8) PGY1 positions.
Guidelines below:

  • Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in family medicine through education, work, and/or volunteer experiences. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • USMLE Step 1 score: Recommend pass with one attempt.

  • USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) score: Recommend minimum of 230 with one attempt.

  •  Our average intern class’ Step 2 CK is 240.

  • USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA) score: Recommend pass on first attempt with results prior to match list deadline.

  • Jackson Memorial Hospital sponsors J-1 visas only.

International Medical Graduate

Applicant Requirements:

  • Recommend no more than one (1) year from medical school graduation.

  • Recommend at least 6 months clinical experience in the United States that is relevant to Family Medicine (research or observerships do not qualify as clinical experience).

  • Strongly prefer passing of USMLE Steps on first attempt, including Clinical Skills.

  • Jackson Memorial Hospital sponsors J-1 visas only.

  • We do not offer observerships or pre-matches.

  • For match eligibility, we require ECFMG certification prior to the start date.

Application Deadline

​ERAS opens in September. It is recommended to apply by October 1, but no later than November 1 with results of USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK. Interviews typically take place on select November through December. No application status updates will be given over the phone. Only those applicants chosen for an interview will be contacted.

Resident Stipends and Benefits

Salaries and benefits are negotiated yearly. PGY-1 2023-2024 salary is $63,637, plus an annual $2,000 professional allowance and $1,375 meal card. More information will be provided at the time of interview.
